Meals on Wheels Organization delivers meals to homebound community members to ensure their safety and well-being. Meals are delivered daily; however SPRITES has an assigned route in La Mesa (WA21) on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. Volunteers will sign up in Causer-Get Connected. A maximum of 4 volunteers are allowed, however it can be accomplished with fewer. There must be 1 adult SPRITES member.
Registered volunteers will meet at American Legion, 8118 University Ave., La Mesa at 9:40am. The MOW truck will arrive at 9:45am and provide the pre-packaged meals, route schedule and instructions on using the Mobile Meals app. The route will take approx. 2 hours. 4 volunteers should plan to ride in 1 vehicle.
The MOW office number is 619-447-8782 for any issues. If you are registered, you will receive a reminder prior to the volunteer date.
**When you return to the drop-site with your empty coolers, please place your paperwork in one of the empty coolers.
Also, TRIO (the meal provider) is trying to fix the cellophane sealer machine, so the meals are completely sealed, all the time. Please contact the MOW office at 619-447-8782 when you come across meals that are unsealed, even if the clients accept their meal partially-sealed. We need to make sure we credit our clients when their meals are not properly presented to them every time.
